This Privacy Policy explains how Sudoku Odyssey ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use the Sudoku Odyssey mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
1. Information We Collect
Sudoku Odyssey is designed to be privacy-respecting. We collect minimal information:
a. Analytics Data (Anonymous)
We use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous, aggregated data about how the App is used. This may include:
- App launch events and session duration
- Puzzle start and completion events (difficulty level, board style selected)
- Daily challenge participation
- Feature usage (e.g. hint usage, settings changes)
- In-app purchase events (whether a purchase was made — not payment details)
- Device type and iOS version (for compatibility purposes)
- Crash reports and performance data
This data does not include your name, email address, Apple ID, or any other directly identifying information. Analytics events are tied to a randomly generated, resettable device identifier (Firebase Installation ID), not to your personal identity.
b. Purchase Transactions
If you make an in-app purchase ("Unlock All Boards"), the transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment card details. We may receive a confirmation that a purchase was completed, but no financial information.
c. Information You Provide
If you contact us by email (e.g. for support), we will receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this solely to respond to your inquiry.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information collected to:
- Understand which features are most used, so we can improve the App
- Identify and fix bugs and performance issues
- Verify and restore in-app purchases
- Respond to your support inquiries
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than improving Sudoku Odyssey.
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as follows:
Firebase / Google — Our analytics provider. Anonymous usage data is sent to Firebase Analytics. Google's privacy policy applies to data they process: policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out of Firebase Analytics data collection by resetting your device's advertising identifier or by adjusting the "Share iPhone & iPad Analytics" setting in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.
Apple — All in-app purchases are processed by Apple under their terms and privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
We do not share your data with any other third parties.
4. Data Retention
Analytics data is retained by Firebase in accordance with Google's data retention policies (default 14 months for event data). We do not retain your personal information beyond what is needed to resolve a support request.
5. Children's Privacy
Sudoku Odyssey is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require account creation or any form of registration. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at sudokuodyssey@gmail.com and we will promptly delete such information.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data and do not link analytics to personal identities, in most cases we would be unable to identify data associated with a specific person. To exercise any privacy rights or ask questions, contact us at sudokuodyssey@gmail.com.
California residents: Sudoku Odyssey does not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.
EEA / UK residents: The legal basis for processing analytics data is our legitimate interest in improving the App. You may contact us to exercise your rights under GDPR.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information. Analytics data is transmitted securely over HTTPS to Firebase servers. We do not store sensitive personal information on our own servers.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
